Get Noticed by Recruiters – Tips for Setting Your LinkedIn Profile Image & Background Photo

Have you looked at your LinkedIn profile image lately? Did you know that if you have a profile and cover image, you significantly rise in search rankings, including with recruiters? Are you confident that your photo is showing you in the best light, subconsciously sending out the right signals to people viewing your profile?

And, also think about trying out Photofeeler – a tool where you submit a variety of images of yourself, then let people vote on 3 variables: Competent, Likeable, Influential. It’s amazingly accurate on which would be the best for LI.

When’s the last time you updated your photo? Is it still that photo from way back when where you cropped someone out of it or you’re completely backlit? How do you think it would rate?

As for your background image, I highly recommend using something that can be used as a conversation starter. It could be an image of your campus, or where you live, or something related to the type of field you are studying or working in. I do NOT recommend putting text in your header as it will often be cut off and not display well on mobile and other types of devices.
